RESILIENCE RELAY FEATURED ATHLETE: WARREN

Achilles Resilience Relay 2021

WARREN KNIGHT

Warren, 53, lost his vision due to glaucoma seven years ago. While in Colorado with the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), he heard about Achilles but was happy hiking and skiing with NFB out west. He joined Achilles in 2018 upon his return to Philadelphia. He’d not run “since Ronald Regan was in office,” and began working out with Philly Achilles. He credits the volunteer guides for “seeing his potential” and pushing him “in the very best way.” Warren was thrilled when he got into and competed in the Broad Street Run, then came a half marathon, and ended that year with the Philadelphia marathon. Philly Achilles awarded him 2018 Athlete of the Year. His running moniker is “Knight Train.” Warren says, "Achilles changed my life for the better. We're a family.”
