RESILIENCE RELAY FEATURED ATHLETES:ALISON AND ZOE
Achilles Resilience Relay 2021
ALISON LYNCH (Achilles NYC Athlete) & ZOE COSTANZO (Achilles guide)
Alison Lynch is an Achilles NYC runner and triathlete and a veteran of several road races, marathons and triathlons -- often alongside her friend and guide, Zoe Costanzo. As a runner with low vision, Alison has often learned to adapt and overcome. At the start of the pandemic Alison contracted COVID and found that her breathing was labored and her condition was slow to improve. She later learned that her close friend and guide, Zoe, was going through the same struggles after contracting COVID. Both were experiencing Long Hauler symptoms. When it became safe, they started to run together as part of their recovery. This gave them an even stronger bond and they adhered to a regular routine of running together -- regularly posting under the name “Team Plasma” on Instagram and Strava. Both regular running and getting vaccinated helped both of them in their recovery and they are starting to return to their pre-pandemic fitness levels. Feeling stronger together, Alison and Zoe are confirmed to take the baton on the Manhattan side of the George Washington Bridge on July 9th.
