International Athlete Grant Application

Achilles International is excited to offer the opportunity for Achilles athletes outside of the United States to apply for a $1,500 grant for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. This grant can be used for travel fees, visa fees, travel costs, or hotel costs. Later in the year, we will open a new grant for other local and international races. Each person will only be able to receive one grant per year, but if a grant is not awarded for the TCS New York City Marathon, Achilles members can apply for the second grant when it becomes available.

The maximum amount of funding that can be requested is $1,500.

Criteria

Athletes must be an active member of their chapter attending at least two workouts monthly. A letter of recommendation from someone (but not your chapter lead) and a detailed budget are required. Please see below for examples.

Applications are due by 5:00 PM ET, Friday, February 28.

If accepted, grantees will be asked to communicate regularly with Achilles International for one year, providing reports including receipts, athletic status (upcoming competitions, race times, number of workouts per week), and any unexpected challenges faced after receiving the funding. Funds will not be directly transferred to athletes, Chapter Leads will receive and distribute the funds accordingly.

“I am so happy I got involved with Achilles. They gave me the strength, energy and motivation to believe that I was capable of running my first marathon in 2018. For me, my Achilles family is the driving force behind achieving my mission to complete all six Abbott World Marathon Majors. The support of the Achilles International Athlete Grant was essential for the realization of this dream.”
