RESILIENCE RELAY FEATURED ATHLETE: ERIC
Achilles Resilience Relay 2021
Eric Strong (Achilles Charlotte, NC)
The Charlotte Chapter of Achilles was founded in February 2017 by visually impaired runner, Eric Strong, and his then-guide, Adam Cannavo, who moved to Charlotte from NYC. Adam saw the need for faster runners to guide Eric, as his pace was increasing with every practice run. Eric qualified for and ran the 2018 Boston Marathon with a net finishing time of 3:39:44. Also in 2018, Eric and teammate Joe Sheerer ran back-to-back Saturday-Sunday marathons -- first in Charlotte, then New York. Since then, Eric has completed several Ultras and was one of the top visually impaired finishers at the 124th Boston Marathon Virtual Experience. Eric will be covering 44 miles in one day to kick off the Achilles Resilience Relay! He hopes the Resilience Relay brings greater awareness of Achilles International in the Charlotte, NC area.
