Achilles Leads Conversation for NFL Employees on Volunteerism and Disability Inclusion with Tiki Barber

Earlier this August, Achilles led a conversation for National Football League (NFL) employees with the NFL ABLE and NFL Community Teammates resource groups on volunteering to help make the benefits of the sport of running more accessible to the disability community. For many people, running is as simple as throwing on a pair of sneakers and headphones, but for the 1 in 4 Americans living with a disability, it’s not always that simple. From access to adaptive equipment and finding a safe, supportive guide to opening up new worlds of possibility, Achilles shared how to work together to break down barriers to the start line.

The panel, “Ways to Go the Extra Mile: Guide Running with Achilles International,” featured NFL Legend, Tiki Barber and the Director of Achilles NYC Metro Region, Francesco Magisano and was moderated by Jonathan Beane, Senior Vice President, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, NFL. Tiki is an active volunteer guide runner and recently raced with Francesco in the Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M® Presented by TD Bank. They shared stories on their recent experience racing together, the power of teamwork, the role of a guide and ways to get involved.

We thank the NFL for inviting Achilles to share how we're making the world a more inclusive place one push, step and run at a time.
