Achilles Hosts Athletes and Community Members at Hard Rock Cafe in NYC for Pre-Marathon Celebration

Deciding to take on the challenge of racing in the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon is definitely something to celebrate!

This year’s racers were invited to attend the Achilles Pre-Marathon Celebration on Friday night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, where community members celebrated their journeys to the NYC Marathon start line.

The evening’s program was hosted by Francesco Magisano, Director of NYC Metro Region, and Janet Patton, Vice President of Event Production and Expansion and Director of the Achilles Freedom Team. Awards were given out to chapters and individuals who exemplify the Achilles Spirit, including:

The Steven R. Fastenberg Future Marathoner Award was presented to Kieron Ragoonath of Team Achilles Kids. Top fundraisers were also recognized, including:

  • Caroline Reilly, who raised $12,623

  • Tavi Wallace, who raised $7,246

  • Rachel Wilkenson, who raised $6935

  • the winner of the Achilles NYC Marathon Team Challenge (led by Achilles athletes and their guides), Chewey Lam and his guides Haley and Sam of Team Chewey!

The evening was a great way for community members to get to know one another, spend time together, and of course get everyone pumped up to race in the New York City Marathon!

We would like to say a special thank you to The GM Military Appreciation Program, who have been long-time sponsors of this special event.
