Achilles Members and Charity Runners Shine at 2022 Berlin Marathon

Congratulations to all of our Achilles community members who completed the 2022 BMW Berlin Marathon on September 25 including 21 athletes with disabilities, 35 Team Achilles charity runners and several volunteer guides.

Athletes were represented from Belgium, France and the below Achilles chapters:

  • Brazil

  • Canada

  • Colombia

  • Germany

  • Japan

  • Mongolia, which had the largest chapter presence with five athletes, including Batzorig “Zoro” Baasai who is attempting to complete all six of the Abbott World Marathon Majors in one calendar year!

  • Norway

  • New York City

  • Washington D.C.

For Team Achilles charity runner, Michaela Rodican, it was her first ever marathon.

“I started my running journey in November 2021 after attending the TCS NYC Marathon to cheer on my sister who was running her first marathon. Before that experience, I never thought it would be possible for me to run a half marathon, never mind a marathon. Not only was my sister an inspiration to me that day, but I was in awe of the Achilles International athletes. Their perseverance to get to the start line and finish the race is what encouraged me to sign up for my first marathon, the 2022 Berlin Marathon, which landed on my 27th birthday,” said Michaela.

We look forward to a busy fall race season ahead and cheering our Achilles community on. Stay tuned for more race recaps.
