Achilles Freedom Team to Compete in 2024 Detroit Free Press Marathon on October 20 Thanks to Support from GM Military Appreciation Program and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers

21 Veterans with Disabilities to Run, Walk and Roll in Race

Achilles International is pleased to announce that the Achilles Freedom Team will once again compete in the Detroit Free Press Marathon thanks to the continued generosity and support of the GM Military Appreciation Program and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers (MDCD).

From protecting and serving on the frontlines, to now racing across the start line, 21 veterans with disabilities will have the opportunity to participate in various celebrations of marathon weekend.

Detroit is a special race for me each year because I know I can reconnect with other military veteran athletes in a unique way that recharges my morale and social batteries. It gives me a respite from my daily chaos and puts me in a space surrounded by those I love and trust. None of that would be possible without the support of Achilles International and our GM Military Appreciation family,” says Dustin Baker, a retired United States Air Force Staff Sergeant on the Achilles Freedom Team.

The Achilles Freedom Team will be treated to several special team dinners downtown, travel via GM shuttles, and enjoy a warm breakfast post-marathon courtesy of Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.

“We are profoundly grateful for their service to our country and the freedom they’ve helped protect, as well as the immense sacrifices they have made. It’s a true honor to support the Achilles Freedom Team, and we are committed to making their time in Detroit as special as possible,” said John Fox, President of MDCD.

GM and the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers have been supporting the Achilles Freedom Team since 2010.
