Achilles Expands Adaptive Cycling Program in Brooklyn and the Bronx Thanks to Support from Lyft’s Citi Bike®

Thanks to the increased support from Lyft’s Citi Bike® team, the Achilles NYC chapter can now provide even more access to adaptive cycling opportunities in Brooklyn and the Bronx. This May, Achilles began offering new handcycle and tandem bike workouts in:

  • McCarren Park in Brooklyn, Mondays at 4:00 PM

  • Claremont Park in the Bronx, Fridays at 12:00 PM

“For the first time in Achilles history, we now have workouts across the boroughs of New York City on every day of the week. The goal is to expand the number of first time athletes that experience our programs and provide an increased number of ongoing opportunities to dive deeper into our social community,” says Francesco Magisano, Director of NYC Metro Region at Achilles International. “The expanded workout frequency and locations allow us to meet our athletes where they are in their own communities which results in greater access and opportunities for even more people. We’re grateful to the Citi Bike® team for their continued support to help Achilles transform more lives.”

The Achilles and Citi Bike® Adaptive Cycling Program increases transportation accessibility by providing affordable recreational adaptive cycle rides to people with disabilities.

"We couldn't be more excited to double down on Lyft's partnership with Achilles International. That's why we increased our commitment to offer adaptive bike rides twice a week in all four boroughs of our service area,” said Inbar Kishoni, Lyft’s Community and Equity Manager for Citi Bike®. “We're proud to offer up this chance to ride, explore and be a part of a community."
